All of us are impaired in one way or another, and our impairments will increase over the course of our lives. There are millions of impaired users, customers, clients, friends and even family who struggle to gain access to products and services they need. Issues preventing equal access should be remediated now, today, and not be put off. Section 508 and WCAG are a good foundation to build upon, but we must not let the letter limit our expression of the spirit.
As manager, mentor, test lead and accessibility subject matter expert (SME), I am a strong user advocate, passionate about making digital media accessible. With over twenty five years in Information technology, and a deep knowledge of Section 508, WCAG and assistive technologies, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence and the ability to arrive at clear cut solutions. My experience includes consulting for the federal government, as well as companies like Microsoft, Real Networks, and HiSoftware. This includes software and web application compliance audits, defect tracking, and report creation, as well as document remediation, VPAT, and well-designed technical documentation.
I bring positive energy, passion for excellence, and collaboration to my work. Let’s talk about how we can team up to build bridges and keep the doors of accessibility wide open.
Sincerely,
Anthony Barbieri
